Mission in the Green Ocean: A Flying Lifesaver for Brazil

The Amazon in Brazil resembles a vast green sea of trees. It is a paradise for jaguars and colorful parrots. However, for the people who live deep in the jungle, everyday life is often a major challenge. Imagine there are no roads, no cars, and no hospital nearby. The only connection to the outside world is the rivers.
When someone in the rainforest becomes seriously ill or is injured, a race against time begins. By simple boat, the journey to the nearest doctor often takes many days. That’s far too long when help is needed immediately! That’s why we at Helimission have a big plan: We’re building a new base in the city of Lábrea so we can provide aid using helicopters.
Helicopters are true superheroes in this wilderness. They don’t need a runway and can simply hover over the dense treetops to reach remote villages of indigenous peoples in no time at all. Where a boat would take three days, the helicopter takes just one hour! We bring brave doctors and essential medications directly to families who have no one else to help them.
A lot is already happening in Lábrea: The living quarters and guardhouse (pictured here) have already been built on our site. This is important so that the site and construction equipment are guarded. Next, we can begin construction of the hangar, which is the large garage for the helicopter.
The Amazon is like a green ocean. It is home to countless fascinating animals. Around 300 indigenous groups live in the Amazon region. We use helicopters to provide aid. Zukünftige Basis in Labrea, Amazonas.
