11 Tons In 22 Flights

Six years ago, I, Matt, and my fellow pilot Micha were in Karawura for a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a future building. And now Dyro and I were here to fly in the building material and the builders.

The airfield in Wasior served as our base for a week. Unfortunately, there is no fuel there. So we had to have our fuel trucked in from Nabire, a 6-hour drive on bad roads. We were told it was about 7 tons of material to fly to the village. In reality it was about 11 tons. We flew 6 shuttles every day, alternating 3 flights each.

We also flew a medical team to provide treatment in several villages. However, bad weather forced us to cut these missions short. We were only able to reach two of the nine villages. Still, these missions were a great blessing for the people.
