Recently, there was a medical evacuation of a lady who was very sick just up the valley in Papua, Indonesia. Usually the weather in the afternoons is challenging, but we were able to carry out this flight. In the village we got the lady into the helicopter very quickly and her son, Lemius, accompanied her. After a short flight we landed at the hospital in Wamena where we were met with a stretcher.
A few days later Lemius came to the hangar and told us that his mother was healthy again and was on her way back to the village on foot. He brought a rooster as a thank you gift. I find it very encouraging to be able to provide such practical help.
