On August 20, we celebrated over 50 years of success with the whole “Helimission family” together with many of our friends and supporters in the Bernese Oberland. In Appenzellerland, the anniversary celebration took place on September 24.
In addition to corporate worship, there were greetings from different Organizations. A member of Parliament emphasized and praised the tireless efforts of the Tanner family and Helimission to alleviate the suffering of people in inaccessible areas of the world, to give new hope to the destitute, and to save lives. Ernie Tanner inspired the guests with his recollections of the impressive steps of faith that were necessary for the foundation of Helimission and were part of everyday life. As founders of Helimission, they were honored with a bouquet of flowers. Even the Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland honored us with his visit in the Bernese Oberland.
Interesting video clips; a message from the current head of Helimission, Simon Tanner; and much more enriched the two events. In beautiful weather, countless flight enthusiasts enjoyed a helicopter flight in the Bernese Alps. In Appenzellerland, the flights took place in less beautiful weather.
A special thank you goes to all our helpers and to all our donors! Without a large group of volunteers, we would not have been able to realize these unforgettable celebrations and without the loyalty of our donors it would never have come to this 50th anniversary!
